In 2018 it might seem crazy that a business wouldn’t have a website, but unfortunately it is the case that many do not. Those that do have a website may also not be as diligent as they should be regarding updates, we are all guilty of that. This blog post will help explain why its vital to have a business website, but also discussing the importance of maintaining it.
Most Small Businesses have no Website
Depending on the source anywhere from 50-70% of small businesses do not have a website, and when combined with those that have an outdated business website that percentage is extremely high. So, if you fall into that category don’t worry the first step is to admit you have a problem. If you don’t have a website you have a problem, but you are far from being alone.
Ease of Contact
Many small businesses feel that their customer base doesn’t care one way or another about their company website which may be true. However, what your customers do care about is having an easy way to get a hold of you. Think of how many times you have been searching for a phone number or menu of your favorite restaurant and you had to search Yelp, Facebook, etc. all because they didn’t have a website to provide that info? Personally, I have given up at times which lead to having to go to a competitor that makes it easier to reach them. Don’t give your customers or potential customers a reason not to come to you.
Reach New Customers
I can guarantee that new customers or potential new customers care about your business website because you aren’t engrained in their minds yet. They may not know your hours, services, or menu by heart and they need a refresher. If they are comparing one place to another, nothing else sets them apart but one has a website, where do you think they are going?
Share Information
An up to date website can be a great place to share information about your business and upcoming dates or events. I know you have Facebook for that, but you don’t control Facebook. When Facebook changes their policies again like they have so many times you may lose the ability to contact your customers. Use a source that is independent of the whims of Facebook developers.
